LEGO, the renowned Danish toy company, has announced an exciting expansion to its Super Mario line. Three brand new sets are planned for release later this year, on the 1st of August, 2024. Fans of the adorable, mustachioed mascot of Nintendo are eagerly anticipating these new additions which feature iconic characters and settings from the beloved video game series.
Moreover, LEGO has unveiled the highly-anticipated Mario Kart-themed LEGO set, which will become available in the following year. This news, along with the announcement of the upcoming sets, were unveiled in celebration of Mario Day.
The first of the new sets, The Bowser Express Train, will come with a price tag of USD 119.99 and consist of a substantial 1392 pieces. This set is incredibly detailed and interactive; featuring a train model, a handcar, two stations, a Super Star Block, a Question Block, and six delightful LEGO figures of well-known Super Mario characters.
Adding further depth to the play experience, the set allows the addition of LEGO Mario, Luigi or Peach figures, though these will have to be purchased separately. These added figures can be used to engage with various parts of the set, chasing the train, operating the spinning platform on the locomotive, and activating the cannon wagon’s spring-loaded shooter. The third set, Battle with Roy at Peach’s Castle, retails at USD $64.99 and includes 738 pieces. This set invites players in for an adventurous exploration and showdown at an emblematic Super Mario location, Princess Peach’s Castle. The castle model includes various interactive sections such as collapsing walls, a tower, a catapult, a rotating throne, and a fountain in the garden.
