Google Pixel Fold: Exciting Sequel Anticipation After One Year

I was skeptical about foldable smartphones until I got my hands on the Pixel Fold. The limited options in the US, especially compared to China, made me hesitant. The Galaxy Z Fold series from Samsung, with its narrow outer display, never felt comfortable for my large hands. However, Google piqued my interest with its unique, compact folding phone design.

Having used Pixel phones for years, I am familiar with Google’s software strengths and weaknesses. While the device offers clean software and exclusive Pixel features like the Recorder app, it falls short in performance compared to newer Snapdragon chips. Despite its unbeatable camera for still photography, there are occasional hardware quirks, like the tiny bumps under the display in certain lighting conditions.

Though I expected trade-offs with the Pixel Fold, I quickly overlooked these when I started using it. While not perfect, the overall experience surpassed any individual drawbacks. Looking ahead to the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, I hope to see improvements in screen brightness and device weight, addressing some of the current model’s shortcomings. With Google set to unveil the new device soon, I believe they have the potential to enhance the foldable experience further.
