In 1995, the BBC’s Tomorrow’s World show tried to guess what the world would be like in 2025. They thought there might be riots and chaos due to the internet. They also predicted that space mining would be a big industry and that robots would help with surgeries. The show even imagined a future where people could bank using a chip in their arm! However, not all their predictions came true. For example, we don’t have super foam gel in space, and there are no self-driving cars everywhere.
Presenters like Monty Don and Vivienne Parry shared their memories of the predictions. Monty Don thought the show was a bit too optimistic for the future. Vivienne Parry still works in science and has seen some of the predictions come true.
Looking forward to 2055, experts think we could be more connected to technology and using it to share ideas more easily. They also believe that advancements in materials and bioengineering could change the world for the better. But one thing is for sure, the future will be different from what we expect.
