Warner Bros. Discovery is talking to Paramount about a possible sale. This news comes from a long and competitive auction.
Paramount, led by David Ellison and his father Larry Ellison, wants to buy Warner Bros. Discovery. The Ellisons control Paramount and believe they can win this bid. Last week, Paramount offered more money to buy Warner. They also told Warner they could increase their offer again.
Some Warner investors are interested in Paramount’s new offer. This has led Warner to think about its current bid from Netflix. Warner sent a letter to Paramount asking for a clearer proposal within seven days. Warner also set a deadline for February 23 for this response.
The sale of Warner Bros., famous for titles like “Batman” and “HBO,” is important for Hollywood. Many workers in the film and TV industry are facing challenges. Warner is also pushing its shareholders to support the $82.7 billion deal with Netflix.
Paramount has been trying to buy Warner since last September, offering over $30 per share. Warner’s stock price rose after the news.
