Jeep has unveiled its new Hurricane four-cylinder engine, which aims to impress enthusiasts despite a market dominated by electric vehicles. This turbocharged 2.0-litre engine produces 325 horsepower, making it one of the most powerful four-cylinder engines available.
The standout feature of the Hurricane is its Turbulent Jet Ignition (TJI). This technology uses a pre-chamber to mix fuel and air more efficiently before ignition. Unlike typical engines, which rely solely on standard combustion methods, the Hurricane incorporates advanced techniques derived from high-performance motorsport.
Additionally, the Hurricane employs twin-spark ignition, with two spark plugs per cylinder enhancing efficiency and power output. As a result, this engine is able to provide an impressive fuel economy of 27 miles per gallon on the highway, even in the relatively heavy Grand Cherokee.
