The Artemis II astronauts flew around the moon. Pilot Victor Glover saw amazing views of the moon. He called it “sci-fi.” He was excited to see many details on the moon’s surface, including meteors hitting it.
The crew felt lucky to view such a unique place. They remembered how special Earth is. Christina Koch felt amazed by the flyby. She also looked forward to the comforts of home.
Koch said they will explore more and build new ships. They will return to the moon and create science outposts. This shows the importance of Earth and people.
Astronauts often feel a strong connection to Earth while in space. This feeling is called the “overview effect.” It helps them see Earth’s beauty and understand that borders do not matter.
Jeremy Hansen, an astronaut on Artemis II, agreed. He felt that seeing Earth from the moon was a special experience. He and the team believe this view should inspire everyone to take better care of the planet.
