The popular game The Sims 4 is set to receive a major update on May 12, 2026, featuring more than 150 fixes and new gameplay enhancements. This update aims to improve players’ experiences by addressing key community feedback.
The upcoming changes include optimisations for Infants and Toddlers, enhanced Sim autonomy, and a new Infant Playmat feature. Developers have actively gathered feedback from EA Forums, Discord, and Reddit to inform these updates. They’ll also introduce a new category in Create a Sim called Base Layers, which will allow players to combine different clothing options for richer character customisation.
Increased frequency of automatic backup saves is another notable improvement. Players will have the opportunity to participate in a Developer Q&A session on May 5 at 2 p.m. PT, followed by a Twitch livestream on May 6 at 10 a.m. PT, where developers will showcase these updates.
Significantly, the developers are tackling major community concerns. Issues such as “black photos” have seen over six fixes implemented, while improvements are being made to reduce caregiver conflicts with Infants. Key enhancements will also slow down the decrease of Infant hunger, making gameplay more balanced.
The developers emphasised their commitment to reviewing and correcting gameplay blockers and inconsistencies. Players experiencing serious issues are encouraged to consult the community support thread.
More details will be available in the Patch Notes on May 12, outlining all adjustments made in response to community feedback.
