The Porsche Taycan Turbo GT is now the fastest electric vehicle (EV) at the Nürburgring, a famous racetrack in Germany. It completed a lap in six minutes and 55.53 seconds after upgrades.
Earlier in 2023, the Taycan set a record time with its optional Weissach package. But soon, it lost this title to other cars. The Rimac Nevera and Xiaomi SU7 Ultra had faster times. Eventually, the Yangwang U9 Xtreme set a new record of six minutes and 59.16 seconds.
Porsche worked with Manthey Racing, a company that helps make racing cars. The Manthey kit improved the Taycan’s speed. It included modified software, lighter wheels, and new parts that help it go faster. These changes increased the car’s downforce, which means it stuck better to the road.
The upgrades also boosted the Taycan’s power by 20kW, making it reach 600kW. The brakes were also improved for better stopping. These changes helped the Taycan cut about 12 seconds off its lap time. However, it is still slower than the 911 GT3 car with similar upgrades, which completed a lap in six minutes and 52.981 seconds.
