Bodycam Shows Cybertruck Crash Into Lake

On Monday, a man in Grapevine, Texas drove his Tesla Cybertruck into a lake. He wanted to test a feature called “wade mode.” This mode is for driving through water. The police arrested the owner, Jimmy Jack McDaniel, after he and his passengers left the vehicle.

The police used jet skis and called a tow truck to lift the Cybertruck from the water. McDaniel tried to get back inside the Cybertruck. The passengers were German tourists.

McDaniel explained that the vehicle could not move because it thought it was charging while underwater. He said he could drive it once it was closer to the ground. This was not the first time he had gotten the Cybertruck stuck in water.

Officials reported that the Cybertruck became disabled and filled with water. The Grapevine Fire Department helped to remove it. McDaniel faced charges for not following water safety rules.

The Cybertruck’s “wade mode” can handle water up to 2.5 feet deep. Grapevine Lake is much deeper than that. Other incidents with Cybertrucks have happened before, including a crash in self-driving mode.
