New Details on ‘Destiny 2’ and Marathon’s Role

Bungie has announced that it will stop developing the game Destiny 2 after a major update on June 9. Many people online are expressing their feelings about this news. Sources say that problems started after the expansion called Edge of Fate did not meet expectations. Later, the expansion Renegades also did poorly, which made the situation worse.

Bungie talked about different ideas for the future of Destiny 2. One suggestion was to change the game to a new model with one large expansion instead of two smaller ones. Another idea was to create Destiny 3, but this did not happen. Concerns about high costs stopped these plans. Estimates suggest that making Destiny 3 could cost around $500 million before marketing.

While the new game Marathon could impact Destiny 2, it was not the main reason for the decision to end development. Efforts to change the decision, like a petition and events on June 9, are unlikely to succeed. Now, Bungie needs to focus on making Marathon work well. There are no clear signs yet about its success.
