Capcom has announced that Onimusha: Way of the Sword will be released on the Switch 2 this September. This news highlights the company’s continued support for the new gaming system.
The game will have a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels in TV mode and 1600 x 900 pixels in handheld mode. Both modes will use a technique called upscaling, which improves image quality. The frame rate will be 30 frames per second (fps) in both modes, but players can also adjust settings to get a variable frame rate between 30 and 40 fps. Other gaming platforms will support up to 60 fps and a higher resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword will be available on 25th September 2026. Players can pre-order the game on the Nintendo eShop. Pre-orders come with a bonus lion dog charm and a special sword appearance called Sealed Curse. The game will require around 34.1GB of space.
The story takes players through the historic city of Kyoto during the Edo period. They will face dark creatures known as Genma. Players will follow a samurai with a magical item called the Oni Gauntlet, which helps him fight these monsters. His journey is filled with battles and mysteries.
