In the June 2024 Nintendo Direct, the announcement of Rareware’s Perfect Dark and Acclaim’s Turok: Dinosaur Hunter coming to the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack as part of a new N64 app labeled ‘MATURE 17+’ was warmly received. These games, known for their blood and violence, are part of an ‘adults-only’ app dedicated to M-rated titles deemed unsuitable for younger gamers by the ESRB.
This launch paves the way for more adult-oriented N64 games to join the service, offering a selection that may not be considered classics but still hold intrigue. Games like Conker’s Bad Fur Day, Daikatana, and Duke Nukem: Zero Hour are on the list of desired additions. The presence of these titles, along with Resident Evil 2, Hexen, and others, showcases the potential for the NSO app to cater to a wider range of gaming preferences.
Though some of these games have received remasters, their inclusion in the Expansion Pack offers a convenient way for players to access them. The introduction of a poll allows users to vote on their favorite M-rated N64 games and share other titles they would like to see on the new N64 Switch Online app.
