Apple’s recent Worldwide Developers Conference keynote provided a glimpse into the exciting updates coming to iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and watchOS this fall. Among the changes teased were RCS support in Messages, a new Passwords app, a revamped Calculator app, and the introduction of the innovative “Apple Intelligence” system. This new system will bring significant enhancements to Apple devices, such as generative AI image creation, custom emojis known as “Genmoji,” text summarization, and ChatGPT integration.
One of the key features of Apple Intelligence is the inclusion of AI tools in operating systems like iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. Siri will receive an AI boost, allowing users to perform tasks like summarizing articles, extracting information from images, and more. Apple emphasized the privacy-focused nature of the system, with most actions being done on-device to ensure data security.
iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 will introduce support for RCS, a redesigned Calculator app, new home screen customization options, and privacy features like app locking and hiding. macOS Sequoia will include features like iPhone mirroring, a new Passwords app, snap window arrangement, and gaming upgrades through the Gameporting Toolkit 2. watchOS 11 will bring Training Load and the Vitals app to help users track their workouts and health data on their Apple Watch. Additionally, updates to AirPods Pro will improve Voice Isolation and introduce new Siri interactions.
These exciting updates showcased at WWDC 2024 promise to enhance the user experience across Apple’s range of devices.
