Betty White, the beloved actress celebrated by generations for her unforgettable performances in television classics like “The Golden Girls” and “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” is set to receive her own postage stamp. The U.S. Postal Service announced this exciting tribute on Friday, revealing that the stamp, scheduled for release in 2025, will feature a digital illustration inspired by a photograph taken by Kwaku Alston in 2010, showcasing Ms. White in a striking purple outfit.

Sadly, Ms. White passed away in 2021, just three weeks shy of what would have been her 100th birthday. The Postal Service honored her legacy in its announcement, calling her “an icon of American television” who generously shared her charm and humor with audiences for an impressive seven decades.

Additionally, the agency highlighted Ms. White’s broad appeal, noting how she captured the hearts of younger viewers during her 90s while also being a passionate advocate for animal welfare.

The Postal Service mentioned that the 2025 stamp release is only partial, with more stamps yet to be disclosed. Among the upcoming tributes is a stamp honoring Allen Toussaint, the multifaceted producer, songwriter, and pianist who passed away in 2015.

Before her television fame, Ms. White began her career in radio, transitioning to television in 1949 with a local talk show called “Al Jarvis’s Hollywood on Television.” After taking over as host, she went on to star in several television programs throughout the 1950s. However, it was her role as the cunning Sue Ann Nivens on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” from 1973 to 1977, which earned her two Emmy Awards, that marked her significant breakthrough. She later became widely known for her portrayal of the kind-hearted Rose Nylund on the iconic series “The Golden Girls,” which aired from 1985 to 1992.
