Former “Saturday Night Live” luminaries Chris Rock and Martin Short are poised to make triumphant returns to their erstwhile Studio 8H venue later this month for the concluding two episodes of “SNL” for the year 2024. Rock, who will don the host’s mantle on December 14, marks his fourth foray into this esteemed role. In contrast, Short will take the helm on December 21 for his third individual hosting endeavor on the program.

Joining Rock on December 14 will be musician Gracie Abrams, who is set to make her inaugural appearance as the musical guest. Meanwhile, Short will welcome Hozier back as his musical guest, marking Hozier’s second showing on the iconic stage.

In a related development, it has been confirmed that Paul Mescal and the artist Shaboozey will feature in this week’s episode of “SNL,” which is scheduled for December 7. This installment represents the show’s first return after a three-week interlude for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Rock, a cast member during the years 1990 to 1993, currently fulfills the roles of executive producer and narrator for “Everybody Still Hates Chris,” a reimagined animated adaptation of his semi-autobiographical family comedy “Everybody Hates Chris.” The multifaceted Rock, an acclaimed comedian, actor, writer, producer, and director, was last seen gracing the silver screen in last year’s “Rustin.”

Conversely, Short, who was part of the “SNL” ensemble from 1984 to 1985, currently captivates audiences in Hulu’s acclaimed series “Only Murders in the Building.”

Gracie Abrams, a Grammy nominee, is actively touring in support of her latest album, “The Secret of Us,” while Hozier approaches the release of “Unreal Unearth: Unending,” the deluxe edition of his album “Unreal Unearth,” scheduled for December 6.

The 50th season of “Saturday Night Live” commenced with host Jean Smart and musical guest Jelly Roll. The lineup subsequently featured a diverse array of talent, including Nate Bargatze with Coldplay, Ariana Grande with Stevie Nicks, and Michael Keaton alongside Billie Eilish.

Notably, comedian Bill Burr led the post-election episode on November 9 with musical guest Mk.gee, while Charli XCX engaged in a dual role on November 16.

As part of its ongoing jubilee, “Saturday Night Live” anticipates a live primetime special commemorating its 50th anniversary on February 16. The series broadcasts on NBC at 11:30 p.m. ET and is available for streaming on Peacock, produced in collaboration with Broadway Video and spearheaded by the esteemed Lorne Michaels.
