Five Star Weekend Renewed for Second Season on Peacock

Peacock has announced the renewal of “The Five Star Weekend,” the drama led by Jennifer Garner, for a second season. This decision follows the release of the first season, which premiered on July 9 and quickly became the platform’s most-watched scripted original series, amassing 2.1 billion minutes of viewership according to preliminary Nielsen data.

The show’s popularity can be attributed to its relatable exploration of friendship and the significance of reconnecting with impactful individuals in one’s life. Lisa Katz, president of scripted content at NBC and Peacock, expressed gratitude to the cast, writers, and crew who adapted Elin Hilderbrand’s acclaimed novel. She noted their dedication in bringing the story to life, emphasizing both its impact on audiences and the team’s enjoyment in its creation.

“The Five Star Weekend” follows Hollis Shaw, portrayed by Garner, a celebrated cook and author grappling with profound grief after a personal tragedy. As she struggles to overcome her loss, the narrative unravels the complexities in her seemingly perfect life, including her strained marriage and her quest for validation. To reconnect with her past, Hollis invites three friends, each representing a different phase of her life, for a weekend on Nantucket.

Joining Garner in the ensemble cast are D’Arcy Carden, Regina Hall, Chloë Sevigny, and Gemma Chan, among others. Garner highlighted the joy shared with the cast in engaging with fans and expressed excitement about the forthcoming season, reflecting their collective desire to continue the journey initiated in the first series.

While the TVLine Scorecard has been updated to include the Season 2 renewal, a release date has not yet been disclosed. Fans are encouraged to share their anticipation for the next chapter of “The Five Star Weekend.”
