The Homewood Planning Commission has approved new plans in Homewood, Alabama. They want to build an outdoor entertainment venue and new student housing.
The first project is called “The Woods.” It will be on Scott Street. The venue will have an 18-hole putting course and a large building for food and drinks. It will also have a big lawn for events and parking. The venue can hold up to 125 guests. There will be enough parking spaces for visitors.
The project will cost about $3.1 million. This money comes from private investors in Birmingham. There is no public funding for this project. Some local people worry about noise because the venue will be open late on weekends.
The second project is for Samford University. It will add two six-story buildings for students. These buildings will provide nearly 500 beds for students. There will also be stores, new paths, and parking for about 952 cars.
Both projects will now go to the city council for approval. The next meeting will be on August 10 at 6 p.m.
