Apple has announced its plans for the new iOS 18 software. The most interesting feature of this software is that its Artificial Intelligence (AI) characteristics will not require cloud servers. This information was shared by Mark Gurman from Bloomberg.
Apple still plans to offer some cloud-based AI features. They have even held discussions with Google, OpenAI, and China’s Baidu about partnerships. iOS 18 won’t include Apple’s own ChatGPT-like chatbot, but it is not certain if Gemini or another chatbot will be integrated.
In the future, Apple could introduce its own cloud-based generative AI features. Apple is said to be buying AI servers.
iOS 18 will have new generative AI features for several applications including Siri and the iPhone’s Spotlight search tool. Gurman also reported that generative AI will help Siri answer more difficult questions. Messages app will also get an auto-complete sentences feature.
Apple is planning to reveal iOS 18 and other updates at its annual developers conference, WWDC. The conference will be held from June 10 to June 14. So, let’s wait and see what new features iOS 18 will bring to our iPhones!
