Stitch has made a raucous return to the Disney universe, and this time, he’s bringing the chaos to life in a live-action adaptation.
Disney recently unveiled an exciting teaser for the live-action version of Lilo & Stitch, featuring the mischievous blue alien wreaking havoc once again.
The 30-second preview captivates viewers with a picturesque shot of a Disney-esque sandcastle against a stunning blue ocean backdrop. However, the serene scene is abruptly shattered as Stitch comes crashing down, destroying the sandy creation in his path.
Newcomer Maia Kealoha takes on the role of Lilo in this live-action reimagining of the beloved 2002 animated classic set in Hawaii. Initially developed for Disney+, the project shifted gears to receive a theatrical release. The stellar cast also features Zach Galifianakis, Billy Magnussen, Sydney Agudong, Kaipo Dudoit, Tia Carrere, Courtney B. Vance, Amy Hill, Jason Scott Lee, and Hannah Waddingham.
Directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, the film tells the story of a lonely girl named Lilo and her unusual companion, an alien designed for destruction.
The script is penned by Chris Kekaniokalani Bright, building on a previous draft by Mike Van Waes. Produced by Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, with Ryan Halprin serving as executive producer, this adaptation is set to capture the imaginations of both new and longtime fans alike.
The live-action Lilo & Stitch is scheduled to hit theaters on May 23, 2025. Don’t forget to check out the teaser for the film in the video above.
