Tom Holland has forged an ambitious producing partnership with Sony Pictures, leveraging his newly established production company, Billy17, in conjunction with his brother Harry Holland and producer Will South.
Their inaugural endeavor will be an original project, intriguingly titled “Burnt,” which they have collaboratively cultivated. Academy Award-winning screenwriter Rodney Rothman, known for his work on “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” is attached to pen the screenplay. Specific narrative details remain confidential, but the film is strategically envisioned as a showcase for Tom Holland’s acting prowess.
Additionally, the trio is slated to produce an adaptation of Graeme Simsion’s acclaimed novel “The Rosie Project” in collaboration with TriStar Pictures, with producers Matt Tolmach and Michael Costigan from Jason Bateman’s Aggregate Films also on board.
Furthermore, they, alongside Amy Pascal, will produce an adaptation of Teddy Wayne’s recently published novel, “The Winner,” which is projected to serve as another vehicle for Holland’s talent.
Reflecting on this new venture, Tom Holland remarked, “I have cultivated an immensely gratifying and productive relationship with Sony Pictures over the past decade, making them the ideal partner for this new chapter. It has long been my aspiration to embark on this journey, and we are genuinely thrilled at the prospect of delivering compelling, rewatchable cinema to audiences. This ambition begins with ‘Burnt,’ an idea that has simmered in our imaginations for several years, and the addition of Rodney as our screenwriter is nothing short of extraordinary. We are enthusiastically embracing this challenge and eagerly anticipating what lies ahead.”
Tom Rothman, chairman and CEO of Sony Pictures’ Motion Picture Group, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership: “Tom, Harry, and Will overflow with innovative ideas and possess the fervor to see them realized. Sony is privileged to further deepen our successful collaboration with Tom, seamlessly integrating our ongoing franchise endeavors with the trio’s burgeoning production expertise, complementing Tom’s remarkable acting prowess. We are fervently advancing these new projects, with the promise of even more to come.”
This deal marks a continuation of the robust relationship between Tom Holland and Sony Pictures, following his dual role in the blockbuster “Uncharted,” which amassed $407 million globally, positioning it as the fourth highest-grossing video game adaptation in domestic markets, as well as participation in Jon Watts’ “Spider-Man” trilogy that has generated nearly $4 billion worldwide. The latest installment, “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” achieved global earnings of $1.9 billion, ranking as the seventh highest-grossing film in history, the third highest domestically, and the most successful film for Sony Pictures.
Billy17 is represented by WME, Sloane, Offer, Weber, and Dern. Tom Holland’s representation includes WME, Shelter PR, and Sloane, Offer, Weber, and Dern.
