Since 2021, unofficial Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) conventions have appeared across the United States. This growth follows a recent boom in interest. Before the pandemic, large Pokémon TCG events were rare and did not attract many fans. Many of these shows focus on buying and selling cards, appealing to collectors and investors.
However, “Card Party” is different. It promotes community interaction rather than just sales. While card trading is still part of the event, it puts more emphasis on fans connecting through their shared love for Pokémon. Now in its fourth year, Card Party is the only convention that brings together many well-known Pokémon TCG community members for games and activities with fans.
The next event will take place in San Diego. The last show in Seattle attracted over 8,000 fans. During the convention, attendees are divided into two teams, Red and Blue, competing in games, trivia, and more. This teamwork creates a lively atmosphere. At night, everyone gathers for live shows, with opportunities to meet other fans and creators.
Card Party fills a gap left by official events, which have become bigger and more corporate. It offers a more friendly and intimate experience for Pokémon TCG fans. The next Card Party shows will also be held in Fort Lauderdale and Dallas later this year.
