Olivia Munn, aged 44, openly discusses how her breast cancer surgeries have impacted her work life. She recently shared her experience of filming intimate scenes with Jon Hamm for the new Apple+ TV series, “Your Friends and Neighbors,” just after undergoing her fifth surgery right before production began.
Despite feeling nervous due to her scars, Munn, portraying Samantha Levitt, a mother-of-two having an affair with Hamm’s character, wanted the scenes to be portrayed realistically and passionately, not holding back.
Working with an intimacy coordinator, Munn gradually gained confidence on set, thankful for her body’s resilience. She views her scars as marks of her hard-fought battle against cancer, a sentiment she expressed in various interviews.
Since her breast cancer diagnosis in 2023 and subsequent mastectomy and hysterectomy surgeries, Munn has been vocal about her journey, hoping to inspire and support others facing similar challenges. She reflects on her changed perspective on life after becoming a mother, cherishing every moment with her children and admiring her husband, John Mulaney’s, dedication as a father.
“Your Friends and Neighbors” is now available for streaming on Apple TV+.
