Ann Davis from Wilmot has a big 500-acre forest called Woods Without Gile. It’s a special forest that is protected so it cannot be built on. The forest was named New Hampshire’s best tree farm of the year in 2022.
New Hampshire also has a special forest for science and research called Bartlett Experimental Forest. Scientists have been going there for over 90 years to study everything about the forest. This includes trees, soil, and even animals.
But, there’s bad news. The forest might be closed down and stopped being taken care of. If this happens, it would be a big problem. People might lose their jobs and it might hurt the economy because it’s a big business in New Hampshire.
Also, it’s not just about money. Forests help us breathe clean air, clean our water, and fight climate change. If the research forest closes down, it would hurt everyone.
