Nestlé Reports Theft of 12 Tons of KitKat Chocolate

A large shipment of KitKat chocolate, weighing about 12 tons, was stolen last week, according to Swiss food company Nestle. The truck, carrying 413,793 chocolate bars, left its production site in central Italy and was heading to Poland when it went missing.

Nestle has not disclosed the specific location where the truck was lost. As of Saturday afternoon, the truck and its contents remain unaccounted for.

A spokesperson for KitKat commented on the theft, saying, “We’ve always encouraged people to have a break with KitKat.” However, they added that the thieves took this idea too far by stealing a large amount of chocolate. The company warned that this theft could lead to shortages of KitKat bars in some European stores. They also expressed concern that the stolen chocolate might enter unofficial sales markets.

Nestle stated that if the bars are sold, they can track them using unique batch codes found on each bar. This will help the company alert stores if the stolen goods are found.

Nestle highlighted the rising issue of cargo theft, telling the public that it is becoming a serious problem for businesses. The company hopes to raise awareness of this criminal trend through their own experience.
