Ford Renames Streets at Carroll Shelby Way Campus

Ford is changing the names of two streets at its headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan. The company will remove the name of famed racer Carroll Shelby. This change is part of Ford’s plan to upgrade its campus.

Carroll Shelby Way West will now be called Raptor Way, and Carroll Shelby Way East will become Navigator Avenue. These new names will take effect in May when Ford begins to turn its Product Development Center into laboratories, meeting areas, and a fitness centre for employees. Other street names will also change, with Village Road becoming Mustang Alley and South Pond Road changing to Bronco Bend. The whole renovation will finish in 2029.

Ford announced these street name changes on April 9, as part of its larger project to improve its 350-acre campus. The famous Glass House office will also be replaced with a new building.

A Ford spokesperson explained that the name changes connect the roads to Ford’s current products. This is part of a strategy to reflect the company’s focus on its history and future.

Carroll Shelby Way was named in 2012 after Shelby’s death. Ford wants the new names to fit better with its main products, which are now trucks and SUVs instead of race cars.
