At the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship on May 3 at Laguna Seca, the Porsche works team will display a special racing design inspired by Apple Computer. This design is based on the Porsche 935 K3, which raced in major competitions during the 1980 season, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Porsche 963 will celebrate two significant events in 2026: Porsche Motorsport’s 75th anniversary and Apple’s 50th anniversary.
The two Porsche cars will feature this unique livery, which marks the partnership between Porsche and Apple. Oliver Schusser, Vice President of Apple Music, noted the long history between the two brands, beginning with the first race car displaying the Apple logo in 1980. Thomas Laudenbach, Vice President of Porsche Motorsport, highlighted both companies’ focus on innovation.
The race at Laguna Seca will last two hours and 40 minutes. The top-category GTP will see two Porsche 963 cars driven by teams including Kévin Estre, Laurens Vanthoor, Julien Andlauer, and Felipe Nasr. The previous season saw Porsche achieve a one-two finish at this location, and they lead the championship standings.
In addition, customer teams will compete with other Porsche models. A two-hour IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge race will also occur featuring Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 cars. Meanwhile, the Porsche Carrera Cup North America will race at the Miami Grand Prix.
