Australian Authorities Investigate Ruby Rose’s Assault Claims Against Katy Perry

Australian authorities have begun an investigation into a sexual assault allegation made by actress Ruby Rose against singer Katy Perry. This claim relates to an incident that allegedly took place in a Melbourne nightclub in 2010, which Perry has denied.

Victoria Police have confirmed that the Melbourne Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team is looking into Rose’s allegation. They have not provided further details, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation.

Perry’s representative has described the accusations as “categorically false” and “dangerous reckless lies.” However, the representative has not commented on the investigation following its announcement. Rose’s representative has also not responded to requests for comment.

Ruby Rose first made her allegation earlier this week in response to a social media post by Complex magazine about Katy Perry’s reaction at the Coachella music festival. In her now-deleted post, Rose stated, “Katy Perry sexually assaulted me at Spice Market nightclub in Melbourne.”

Initially, Rose indicated that she had no interest in pursuing criminal charges. However, she later announced her decision to file a police report, explaining that this would allow her to begin her healing process.

Perry, who released her seventh studio album titled “143” in 2024, concluded a world tour in December. In April 2025, she participated in a space tourism mission with Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin, which took her and five other women to the edge of space.
