Daveigh Chase, the actress best known for voicing Lilo in the 2002 Disney film “Lilo & Stitch,” has died at the age of 35. The medical examiner’s office confirmed that she passed away from AIDS-related complications. She died on June 16 at a hospital.
Her father, John David Schwallier, stated that Chase also suffered from bacterial meningitis and a serious blood infection. Chronic polysubstance use, which means using multiple drugs over time, added to her health issues. Shortly before her death, her boyfriend mentioned on a GoFundMe page that she was critically ill.
Chase had been living in Los Angeles with her boyfriend, but they were homeless at the time of her death. Her father noted that their situation was difficult and that they were near the hospital when she passed away.
Chase lent her voice to Lilo in the Disney Channel series that followed the original film, which aired from 2003 to 2006. She was also known for her role as Samara Morgan in the 2002 horror movie “The Ring.” Born on July 24, 1990, in Las Vegas, she started singing and dancing at age three in her hometown of Albany, Oregon.
Chase struggled with drug addiction since she was 13 years old and had a complicated relationship with her parents, who are divorced.
