Ella Bright is responding to concerns about the nearly ten-year age difference between her and her Off Campus co-star, Belmont Cameli. Bright is 19, while Cameli, who plays her romantic partner on-screen, is 28.
During a recent podcast, Bright explained that she approached her role with a clear understanding of what was required. “I just fell in love with Hannah and these scripts immediately. There was never a question that I wouldn’t want to do this,” she stated.
Bright acknowledged the public’s concerns regarding the age gap but emphasized that she felt included on set. “We’re all such a family, and everyone was just more than perfect. I couldn’t be more comfortable,” she added.
As the actress portraying Hannah in this adaptation of Elle Kennedy’s book series, Bright found humour in the discussions around her age but reassured listeners, “I’m completely good.”
Showrunner Louisa Levy informed the cast about the more explicit content in the series before filming began. Bright explained that Levy intended to differentiate between the characters, noting that Hannah would have partial nudity, while Allie, played by Mike Abdalla, would have full nudity. This was meant to reflect Allie’s confident and free-spirited nature.
Bright confirmed that all the actors were fully aware of what they were stepping into. Off Campus tells the story of Hannah Wells and Garrett Graham, whose initially fake romance evolves into a genuine relationship as they develop feelings for each other.
