LOS ANGELES — “Rosemead” is a movie based on a true story. Lucy Liu plays a woman named Irene. Irene is very sick and she wants to protect her son, who has many problems.
As her son gets worse, Irene has to make hard choices. She must think about how far she will go to help him and what she will give up.
Lucy Liu said, “Irene is a complicated person.” She is not just struggling with her health but also with strong emotions.
Irene loses many things in her life, including control over her son.
Lucy Liu feels that the movie shows the challenges of being a parent and a woman. She said it can feel overwhelming.
The director, Eric Lin, was moved by the family’s story. He knows how mental health struggles can affect families. He understands why Irene hides her son’s problems.
Lucy Liu said, “This movie is important. It has a message for everyone.”
The movie “Rosemead” opens on December 12 in Los Angeles. It also stars Lawrence Shou and others.
