New Animated Film by Jerry Bruckheimer Launches

Jorge Rivera-Herrans’ audio version of Homer’s Odyssey is set to become an animated film. Academy Award-nominated producer Jerry Bruckheimer is working with Rivera-Herrans and Kevin Weaver, president of Atlantic Music Group and a Grammy Award-winning producer. Chad Oman from Jerry Bruckheimer Films will also produce the film.

CAA, a talent agency, will soon market the project to studios and streaming services. This collaboration brings back Weaver and Bruckheimer, who previously worked together on the Academy Award-nominated film F1.

Rivera-Herrans began writing this musical retelling of The Odyssey in 2019 while studying at the University of Notre Dame. He changed his major from medicine to film and music. He shared his creative process on social media starting in 2021, and a snippet of the song “Full Speed Ahead” went viral. The first part of this saga released in 2023, with new sections coming every few months until the final part is expected in December 2024. Rivera-Herrans played Odysseus and included 25 performers from around the world.

The musical has achieved significant success, with eight segments reaching the top three on Billboard’s Cast Albums chart and four reaching number one. Since its release, it has accumulated over 4 billion global streams and more than 7 billion short-form views. In September, Rivera-Herrans launched a special edition vinyl set for fans.
