American rapper David Anthony Burke, known as d4vd, has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a 14-year-old girl. The body of Celeste Rivas was found dismembered in a car that was registered to him.
Los Angeles police arrested the 21-year-old musician on Thursday for Rivas’s murder. He is currently held without bail. This arrest comes seven months after officers discovered Rivas’s badly decomposed body in the trunk of a Tesla that was impounded and linked to Burke.
Investigators found two black bags in the car: one contained a decomposed head and torso, while the other held more body parts. An autopsy indicated that Rivas had been dead for a long time in the vehicle before she was discovered. Her body was found just a day before her 15th birthday.
The LA County District Attorney’s office will review the evidence against Burke on Monday to decide formal charges. Burke’s lawyers have insisted that they will “vigorously defend” his innocence. They stated that the evidence will show he did not kill Rivas and was not involved in her death.
Burke, who is from Queens, New York, gained fame in 2022 when his song “Romantic Homicide” became popular on TikTok. He cancelled the last part of his US and European tours last year due to the ongoing investigation into Rivas’s death.
