Ruby Rose, known for her roles in “Batgirl” and “Orange Is the New Black,” has accused singer Katy Perry of sexual assault at a nightclub in Melbourne. Rose made this claim on the social media platform Threads, following a post by Complex that highlighted Perry’s comments after Justin Bieber performed at the Coachella music festival.
In her post, Rose stated, “Katy Perry sexually assaulted me at Spice Market nightclub in Melbourne. Who gives a shit what she thinks?” This allegation has sparked significant attention online.
A representative for Perry responded to Rose’s claim, labelling it as “categorically false” and “dangerous reckless lies.” The statement further noted that Rose has a history of making public allegations against various individuals, which have consistently been denied by those implicated.
According to Rose, the incident took place when she was in her twenties. She described a disturbing encounter where Perry allegedly made unwanted physical contact. In her response to a fan’s inquiry for more details, she recounted the incident, expressing her distress.
Rose explained that while she initially portrayed the event as a humorous anecdote, she later felt compelled to reveal the truth. She noted that it took her almost two decades to speak out, emphasising the lasting impact of trauma and the process of finding her voice.
Importantly, Rose stated that she does not plan to file a police report regarding the incident. She mentioned that sharing her experience was crucial for her well-being. Perry was recently seen at Coachella with Justin Trudeau, enjoying Bieber’s performance, which had led to the original social media discussion.
