Behavioral health care providers say taking away $15 million is wrong

In a letter to the governor, Tim Heller from Omaha asks for more money for mental health services. He has a son with mental illness and says cutting $15 million could cause problems. Proper funding can help reduce ER visits, homelessness, and violent situations. Heller thinks now is not the time to cut the budget. He mentions past incidents in Omaha involving mental health issues. Many people worry about the effects of the cut on mental health services. Some places have long waiting lists for help. The government says the money is not needed now. But others disagree and say more funding is necessary to meet all needs. The decision to cut $15 million is not final yet. Providers hope it will be reconsidered.
