Norovirus is spreading in the U.S., especially in the Northeast, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This virus, also known as “stomach flu” or “stomach bug”, is very contagious and causes stomach problems. It can be passed through tiny particles of waste or vomit. Norovirus symptoms include vomiting and diarrhea. The virus is contagious and anyone can get sick from it. The CDC reports that more than 12% of tests for norovirus were positive recently. In the Northeast, over 16% of tests were positive. It’s important to wash hands well, clean surfaces, and avoid handling food when sick to prevent spreading norovirus.
