Billy Coull, the director of the failed Willy Wonka event in Glasgow, has apologised twice. The event had been compared to the Fyre Festival concert disaster. The “Willy’s Chocolate Experience” was expected to be an exciting day of chocolate fountains and performances by Oompa Loompas.
However, the attendees were upset with what they found. They arrived to see a poorly decorated warehouse. There were two women wearing green wigs as Oompa Loompas. The actor Paul Connell, who was supposed to be Willy Wonka, looked more like an Oompa Loompa.
News of this upset reached the world and many memes about it have been made. The company that arranged the event, ‘House of Illuminati’, did give a quick response. However, they said they should have cancelled it due to problems that arose.
Director Billy Coull then apologized again with more detail. It was his decision to keep the event going. He is very sorry for letting everyone down. He also said that refunds will be given to the 850 people who bought tickets. This showed he is serious about making things right. He asked for people to give him some time to fix things. He hopes to learn from this mistake.
