Disneyland Park workers vote to authorize potential strike

Disney employees in Southern California have voted to permit a strike. They’re part of multiple unions who want higher pay and more benefits. They argue many workers suffer from not having enough food or a secure home.

Disney Workers Rising is a group made up of four unions. Combined, they represent 14,000 workers at Disneyland and related attractions. Almost all of the union members who voted are for the strike.

A strike doesn’t mean they will stop work right away, but their union leaders now have permission to call for one if needed. This comes after a protest held by union members, who are requesting better pay.

Disney Workers Rising is set to meet with the company soon. Disneyland has said they value their staff and are dedicated to resolving the matter.

Disney does plan to invest $60 billion in its theme parks over the next decade. The union members hope for higher pay as part of the new contracts being discussed.

Disney has also been accused of mistreating some union members. This is part of their ongoing argument to secure better working conditions.
