Anker is rejuvenating its sleep-centered true wireless earbuds with the new **Soundcore Sleep A20 model**. It’s unveiling the earbuds today to match with the so-called ‘World Sleep Day’, but a pair of the earbuds won’t be accessible until its Kickstarter initiates on April 16th. Consumers who’d rather opt for a conventional purchase, these earbuds will be available on Amazon from May 20th. They’ll ultimately retail for $149.99, but Kickstarter offers them at $89.99 for early birds.
Unlike the previous A10 earbuds, there’s no **active noise cancellation** in these earbuds. Instead, the earbuds come with what Anker calls “Twin-Seal eartips” that reportedly block thrice the noise compared to standard silicon eartips. The earbuds are also designed to play white noise from an “included sound library”, intending to further reduce external distractions. Anker argues that their compact design ensures comfort, even for those who prefer to sleep on their sides.
**Battery life** is the standout enhancement in the A20 over its predecessor. The earbuds now provide up to 14 hours of white noise playback in ‘Sleep mode’, and up to 80 hours in total with their charging case. If you like falling asleep while listening to music from your phone, the battery life drops to 10 hours, but it’s still a step-up from the 6-hour lifespan of the A10s.
The A20 also offers other improvements over the first-gen sleep earbuds. These include a built-in alarm designed not to disturb someone sleeping next to you and support for “automatic sleep monitoring with sleep position tracking”. If lost, you can use their **companion app** to make the earbuds play an alert to find them in your bedding.
In summary, Anker’s earbuds present a pragmatic set of upgrades, especially after its primary competitor, Bose, discontinued its Sleepbuds II earbuds. Currently, three ex-Bose employees are venturing on their own with the **Ozlo Sleepbuds**. The novel earbuds are in process according to their Indiegogo page ahead of the expected April shipping date.
