Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón believes that the Menendez brothers should not spend their entire life in prison. “I don’t think they should be in prison until they die,” Gascón said. The Menendez brothers’ names are Lyle and Erik. They were found guilty of killing their parents.
A new television episode comes out on Thursday, Oct. 17. The episode is called “Menendez Brothers: Monsters or Victims?”. It talks about the brothers’ case and includes interviews with their friends, family, and lawyers. The episode will be available on Hulu.
Gascón is thinking about whether the brothers should have another trial. Some new evidence has come up. This includes a letter written by Erik to his cousin discussing abuse by their father before the parents were killed. Gascón said, “We have to review what is being presented to us.”
Lyle and Erik killed their parents on Aug. 20, 1989. Lyle was 21 and Erik was 18. They shot their parents in their house in Beverly Hills, California.+
