Yasuke, the first African to appear in Japanese records, has a fascinating backstory that includes serving the feudal lord Oda Nobunaga. Ubisoft is blending known facts with its own narrative in the game. Yasuke’s role as a samurai is up for interpretation, as historical definitions were fluid during his time.
