Delta Air Lines is suing CrowdStrike after its security software failed in July, causing 7,000 canceled flights and stranded passengers worldwide. Delta claims a $380 million loss and $170 million in extra costs due to the outage.
CrowdStrike provides security software for companies, government agencies, and airlines like Delta. The lawsuit states that CrowdStrike’s update caused a global issue, despite Delta disabling automatic updates.
Delta CEO Ed Bastian wants full compensation for the chaos caused. CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz apologized, but Delta claims are called “misinformation” by the company.
CrowdStrike’s lawyer believes their liability should be less than $10 million and questions why Delta struggled while other airlines recovered faster from the issue.
