Harry, the Duke of Sussex, says false information from AI and social media makes it hard to debate facts. He said this on a four-day trip to Colombia. Vice-president Francia Márquez welcomed Harry and his wife, Meghan.
On the first day, they visited a school in the capital city, Bogotá. They talked to teenagers about social media. The couple also spoke at a meeting about being safe online. It was set up with help from their charity, the Archewell Foundation.
Harry says what we see online can affect what happens in real life. He says a lot of people are scared of AI and what it might mean. Education is the key to beat fake news. He says it’s down to us all to tell the difference between real and fake news.
The Sussexes, who have been criticised on social media, did not say who paid for the trip. It was not a state or official trip. Colombia’s Vice-president Márquez said this trip was special. She hoped it would help to build bridges and support women leaders in Colombia.
The couple from California will also visit Cartagena and Cali during their trip. This is their second trip this year, after they visited Nigeria in May.
