Kim Delaney and Husband Escape Charges Following Arrest

Prosecutors in Los Angeles have opted not to pursue formal charges against Kim Delaney, a former star of “NYPD Blue,” along with her spouse, following allegations of domestic violence that surfaced last weekend.

The couple was apprehended on Saturday morning after deputies from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department responded to reports of a potential domestic disturbance at their residence in the scenic community of Marina del Rey. Official reports indicate that their arrest was prompted by community concerns regarding their wellbeing.

Delaney, aged 65, was detained on charges of felony assault and remained in custody without bail until Tuesday morning—a duration lasting until the maximum time permissible without the filing of formal charges. This timing coincided with her scheduled court appearance for arraignment, as detailed by authorities and inmate registries.

Her husband, James Morgan, 54, faced accusations of domestic violence but was subsequently released, with his bail set at $20,000, according to Lieutenant Kenneth Jose Salgado of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Both individuals had been scheduled for initial court appearances on Tuesday.

The spokesperson for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, Pamela J. Johnson, communicated via email that “our office has declined to file charges against Kim Delaney and James Morgan due to insufficient evidence.”

As of now, it remains unclear whether Delaney and Morgan have retained legal representation. Representatives for Delaney have yet to respond to inquiries regarding the incident.

Inmate records reveal that Morgan’s arrest occurred at approximately 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, followed by Delaney’s apprehension around half an hour later.

Delaney has often portrayed their relationship as one characterized by profound affection, sharing a photograph of herself with Morgan on Instagram accompanied by the sentiment of “pure love.” She has celebrated their second wedding anniversary on the platform, professing enduring devotion and proclaiming herself “your wife for life.”

Delaney’s illustrious career spans numerous acclaimed prime-time shows and miniseries, yet it is her portrayal of Detective Diane Russell on “NYPD Blue” that catapulted her to stardom, earning her an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 1997.
