Four new features for the Xbox console are being introduced today to selected participants of the Alpha and Alpha-Skip-Ahead rings within the Xbox Insider programme. This rollout is significant as it sets the stage for a broader public release anticipated in June or July.
The new features aim to enhance user experience by introducing quality-of-life improvements. Notably, the update includes release notes that allow users to view the latest changes and enhancements following console updates. Additionally, Xbox service status indicators will enhance transparency, informing users when the network experiences outages.
One of the notable additions is the introduction of new colour options for console customisation. Users will be able to enter specific hex colour codes, facilitating precise colour selection. An option to match colours with existing gamer pictures will also be available, enabling users to preview their selections before finalising them.
Moreover, the Xbox Accessories app has been updated to show which controller is currently selected. This improvement simplifies the process of adjusting settings and remapping buttons, particularly for users of the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 or special edition controllers.
Lastly, a new indicator will appear on the upper-right corner of the screen during confirmed Xbox service issues. This feature allows users to quickly assess the state of the service and directly access a status page for the latest updates on affected functionalities.
As these features continue to roll out, users will receive further updates, enhancing their overall Xbox experience.
