Venice will host the wedding of Jeff Bezos and his girlfriend, Lauren Sanchez. The city said there will not be many celebrities visiting, so it will not disturb the people or tourists.
Venice did not say when the wedding will take place. Some news reports say it will be between June 24-26, with celebrations for a few days.
“The rumors about Jeff Bezos’ wedding are not true,” the city said in a statement.
Jeff Bezos owns The Washington Post and is the founder of Amazon. In 2014, George and Amal Clooney had their wedding in Venice.
The city said only 200 people will be invited. This number is small, and Venice can easily handle it without any problems. Venice has experience with big events like G20 and G7 meetings.
Some reports say that the wedding planners booked rooms at expensive hotels and reserved many gondolas and water taxis. These boats are used by locals and tourists.
However, the city said these reports are false. They want to keep the city running normally for everyone. Mayor Luigi Brugnaro said they will work together with the wedding planners to respect the city’s beauty.
