A family from Liverpool faced a nightmare after their flight to Houston, Texas, was forced to land in freezing Newfoundland, Canada. They spent two days in very cold weather after their routine trip turned into chaos.
The flight made an emergency landing for a medical issue. After landing, the passengers stayed on the plane for three hours. They then learned the plane had a technical issue, which meant it could not continue.
Passengers had to stay in local hotels without their luggage. They only had the clothes on their backs. The temperatures in Newfoundland were very low, reaching minus 10 degrees Celsius. Jon Shipman, a member of the family, said they felt upset and frustrated. They had to ask airport staff for information.
When they returned to the airport, they learned their flight was canceled again. After two days, they finally flew to Houston. British Airways apologized to passengers and gave them a $669 voucher. They also stated they would cover expenses for hotels and meals. However, Shipman said this was not enough and felt their holiday was ruined.
